Its that time of year again to choose your classes for next year. Below you will find course descriptions for classes offered at Bailey and important transition dates coming up soon. Please read the course descriptions and attend the Bailey Showcase on Feb. 12th to make sure you choose classes you really want to take. Your choices determine our staffing and class availability, so schedule change requests at the beginning of the new school year are often not possible. For more information look in the "Transitions/Scheduling" section of our website.

Jan 16th: Academy Presentations at Bailey for all 8th graders in Bailey Gym 1:15 – 2:00
Jan 30th: Akins Showcase: Incoming 9th grade students & parent night at Akins HS 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Feb 6th: Parent/Student course advising session at Bailey with Akins counselors 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.
Feb 13th: Akins counselors meet with students (only) scheduled to attend Akins at Bailey to enter course contracts (science classes)
Feb 26th: Akins counselors meet with students who were absent on the 13th in the library. Students projected to attend Akins can review course contracts through math classes
Feb 4th: Bowie Showcase: Incoming 9th grade students & parent night at Bowie HS 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Feb 13th: Bowie counselors meet with students (only) scheduled to attend Bowie at Bailey to explain choice sheet and advise students (science classes)
Feb 20th: Parent/Student course advising session at Bailey with Bowie counselors 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Feb 26th: Students projected to attend Bowie will enter course contracts through math classes

*If there is an error on a student's schedule (ie. missing a class, wrong grade level), the student needs to stop by the counseling department to see the appropriate grade level counselor by Friday, 8/24.
Due to limited class availability, we are unable to do change of mind requests on schedules, but the student is welcome to get on a waiting list by signing up in the counseling department by Friday, 8/24.
*The Bailey counselors are on summer break from June 8th through the beginning of August. We will return the week of August 6th.

Fall 2018 Important Dates:
- Bring proof of address, parent ID, student birth certificate, immunization records,
social security card, and if homeschooled bring proof of prior grade-level completion

- This is not for incoming 6th graders who attended an AISD elementary
school. Incoming 6th graders should attend the Summer Transistion Camp.

Current 5th graders will receive an official choice sheet from their classroom teacher after the Feb. 9th field trip to visit Bailey. Bailey 6th and 7th graders will receive their choice sheets on Feb. 9th or 12th during class. Bailey 8th graders will receive their high school choice sheets between Feb. 9th & 16th.
Attached you will find draft forms of 6th/7th/8th grade choice sheets for the 2018-2019 school year. General course descriptions for each grade level can be found under the "Transitions" tab above.
*Please Note: Only students projected to attend Bailey will receive a choice sheet.
Students not projected to attend Bailey, must request an address change through their elementary or previous school upon moving into Bailey boundaries, or must be approved for an official transfer through the district before completing a Bailey choice sheet. If a move or transfer approval occurs over the summer, students can complete the choice sheet during registration at Bailey in August.
Our Bailey Showcase night will be on Monday, February 12th from 6:30-7:45pm. This is for incoming 5th graders and current 6th and 7th graders and their parents.
Students should receive their choice sheets before this night.
-Elementary students will receive their choice sheet from their elementary school counselor or teacher following the Elementary visits to Bailey on Feb. 9th.
-Current 6th & 7th graders will receive their choice sheet from their science teacher either Feb. 9th or 12th.
Due date for submission of Bailey choice sheets for all students is Friday, February 16th.
*Elementary choice sheets will be turned in to their current classroom teacher.

Lunch hour Q&A with Bailey counselors for incoming 6th grade parents @Bailey 11:30am-12:15pm.
Bowie & Akins counselors will be at Bailey from 3:30-5:30pm to meet with 8th grade parents and students regarding their high school course selection questions.
